Pelican Brief Issue 1/3, Term 2
Birdsville State School – Welcome to Term 2!

Welcome back to Term 2! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter break and that the Easter Bunny made a special visit to your homes. It’s been lovely seeing everyone return with big smiles and lots of holiday stories to share.
A big thank you to Mrs Carige, Principal of Bedourie State School, for stepping in to cover Birdsville during Week 10. We really appreciated her support and wish her all the best back at Bedourie.
We've had a fantastic start to the term. The students enjoyed meeting Senior Constable Brodie this week, and we also welcomed a new Kindy student and their family into our school community – it’s always exciting to have new faces join us!
This week, our students showed great respect and pride during the ANZAC Day commemorations. Well done to all students for marching and laying the wreath together so thoughtfully. A special congratulations to two of our students who led the Lord’s Prayer at both the dawn and main services – you represented our school beautifully.
Looking ahead, we have lots to look forward to this term, including the Windorah Sports Camp, Taekwondo lessons, Under 8’s Day celebrations with Bedourie SS, and our special Mother’s Day activities.
I will be away from the 2nd to the 12th of May, attending professional development as part of the OAA small schools cluster. During this time, Mrs Janet Hatfield will return to Birdsville to cover my role – we look forward to lots of musical fun while she is here!
Towards the end of the term, we will be participating in our scheduled school review. I will send out more information about this as the time gets closer.
It’s shaping up to be another busy and exciting term, and I’m looking forward to all the wonderful experiences we will share.
Kind regards,
Harriet Birchley
