From the Acting Principal

Dear Parents, Carers, and Community Members,

What a fantastic first week back at Birdsville State School! It has been wonderful to see our students return with such enthusiasm, settling into their learning routines and reconnecting with friends. A special welcome again to our Kindy student!

We are also excited to welcome Olivia to our school community! Olivia has joined us as our new Teacher Aide and Cleaner. She brings a wealth of experience in Kindy and Early Childhood education and is currently studying for her Bachelor of Early Childhood. Her passion and knowledge in working with young learners will be a fantastic asset to our school, and we are thrilled to have her on board!

This week, we marked some exciting milestones:

  • First Day of School on Tuesday saw our students jumping straight into their learning with energy and curiosity.

  • National Lego Day was a hit! Students engaged in fun problem-solving challenges using Lego, fostering creativity and teamwork.

  • Playgroup sessions on Wednesday and Friday provided a great space for our little learners to explore and play.

  • Community Boogie and Books on Thursday was another successful event, bringing families together to enjoy stories and movement. Thank you to everyone who participated!

What’s Coming up next fortnight:

Week 2

  • Monday & Tuesday: Kindy sessions continue.

  • Tuesday: Central West Health visit – a great opportunity for learning more about the services in our community.

  • Wednesday & Friday: Playgroup continues, welcoming our youngest learners.

  • Thursday: Community Boogie and Books returns, plus Waitangi Day (NZ)—a wonderful chance to explore cultural diversity in our learning.

Week 3

  • Monday: Rosemarie Hodder (DRT) will be visiting to support our students for two weeks whilst I use this as admin time. Then in the following week when I am away for training, she will be our Officer in Charge.

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: Playgroup

  • Tuesday and Thursday: Kindy
  • Thursday: Community Boogie and Books.

  • Friday: Valentine’s Day celebrations.

Thank you to our students, staff, and families for making Week 1 such a great start to the year. I look forward to another engaging and productive week ahead!

Kind regards,

Harriet Birchley
