Pelican Brief Issue 2, Term 3
From the Acting Principal
Good afternoon,
It is the end of Term 3 today, how fast it has flown by once again!
Staff updates
The teacher vacancy brief has gone out - we are now awaiting on applications to come through.
Events and Excursions
RFDS Simulator (Facebook excerpt):
"Today we had an excursion to the RFDS plane simulator! The BSS students and Pelican Pals played dress ups as they pretended to be pilots, doctors, nurses and patients. We had quite a few sick patients on the plane with broken legs and snake bites. We got to see some cool flight trackers on their iPad to see where each RFDS plane were flying too in that moment. We also learnt more about the man on the $20 note - John Flynn and how he pioneered the RFDS over 100 years ago. Thank you, John and Kym"
Tennis Day (Facebook excerpt):
"
Thank you Jarron for coaching us today at the Birdsville Tennis Courts! We had a fantastic time learning new skills and practicing the ones we learnt at Windorah Sports Camp."
Bertalli's Chip Van excursion (Facebook excerpt):
"Thanks again Pam for letting us enjoy your yummy chips! We were definitely very eager for our lunch break to come around this morning!
"
Crack-up sisters (Facebook excerpt):
"Thank you CrackUp Sisters for visiting us yesterday to teach us circus tricks like bridges, tumbles, cartwheels, handstands and some fun games! We had so much fun and were exhausted afterwards!
"
Cafe:
Thank you to all the community members who came into visit the students at their cafe today. They are always so excited for this at the end of term, and it means a lot to them, especially when the food they made has been complimented on! They worked very hard to make this a great experience for their guests.
Expectations for Term 4
As it is quite hot, please make sure your child is wearing weather appropriate clothing. Amber gave everyone a pair of shorts and/or skort at the beginning of the year. If you require more, we have lots for sale.
Please be mindful of drop of times. We start school at 8:45, anytime from 8:30am is acceptable to drop off your child and this provides enough time to change into their shoes and get ready for the day.
Lesley offers supervision in the library from 8:30am on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. I supervise in the classroom from 8:30am on Tuesday's and Friday's.
Notices
- Please remember we are always looking for a community reader for our library on Thursday mornings. The students love when a member from the community comes into their school!
- Toblerone raffle - Congratulations Joel Blyth on winning the raffle for the 4.5kg Toblerone from the P&C.
Enjoy the school holidays!
We return on the 30th of September.
Kind regards,
Harriet Birchley
