Pelican Brief Issue 3 Term 2

From the Principal

Hello!

We are getting very close to the end of term! We have 3 weeks left before we head off to Windorah for our annual school camp. This year our kids will be flying across with Mrs Birchley and Miss Venessa.

We are very excited for next Friday...The P&C will be hosting our first sports event for the year. The colour fun run will kick off at the Pelican Point gates and be followed by a BBQ. If you could please register for catering purposes that would be fantastic. We also looking for sponsors, if you would like to sponsor please get in touch with the P&C. See the flyer below for more information.

This past fortnight has been equally as busy with Under 8's and National Simultaneous Story Time. On top of these fun learning events we have been getting into some serious assessment for all learning areas. Report cards will be sent home at the end of the term.

I hope you have a lovely weekend,

Laura

From Mrs Birchley

Hello families!

We had such a great time at Under 8's day on Friday the 19th May. We were all so exhuasted by the end! Some of the things the students got to do were:

  • See inside the Emergency Services vehicles
  • Water play
  • Obstacle course
  • Painting
  • Music
  • Biscuit decorating
  • Sensory bins for feet (cornflakes, shaving foam, water, oobleck!)
  • Sandpit play

We enjoyed walking safely to school with Acting Senior Constable,  Dan De Klerk, on Monday morning. Who reminded us to look both ways before crossing the road.

On Wednesday at 11am we read The Speedy Sloth as apart of National Simultaneous Day! We really liked the moral of the story of not comparing yourself to others and doing the best of your ability in what ever you do.  Mrs Brook visited us when we were doing our book review and she spoke to each of us and asked what we thought of the story.

Almost everyone seems to be hit by a bug this week, so I am hoping you all get better quickly and have a nice rest while you recover at home.

Kind regards,

Mrs Birchley

From the Students Desk

This fortnight we had Under 8's, we participated in games.

In English we are learning what a traditional story is.

In Math I'm learning what  prime and composite numbers are. Prep are learning patterns and grade ones are learning to skip count in 2's, 5's and 10.

HASS we are learning about the Gold Rush.
