Pelican Brief Issue 2 Term 2

  • From the Principal
  • From the Teacher

From the Principal

This Friday we are officially half way through the term! Our students have been working very hard in their units of work and are starting to complete and finalise some assessments.

I want to thank our wonderful P&C for a fantastic Mother's Day afternoon tea on Sunday afternoon. Our next P&C event is on Friday 2nd June and is our community fun run. The P&C are looking for sponsors with this event if you would like to sponsor please email the P&C PandC@birdsvilless.eq.edu.au

This event is for all community members and we are encouraging as many people to participate as possible. If you could please email me at principal@birdsvilless.eq.edu.au if you would like to participate so that we can enter you into a 'school house' as we will be holding more sporting events throughout the year and would like to accumalate points and have an overall winner at out awards evening. Please keep an eye out on our Facebook pages for more information regarding this.

This Friday is under 8's day. Please see flyer attached to this email for information.

Next Wednesday 24th May is National Simultaneous Storytime. This year we will be hosting this event. We invite you to join us between 11:00-12:00 for the reading of this years book, The Speedy Sloth followed by an activity and light refreshments.

A reminder that our school times are 8:45am-2:45pm. Active supervision of students begins at 8:30 students should not be arriving at school any earlier than this. Teaching concludes at 2:45pm and students will be released at this time. It is important that students are staying at school for the whole day unless sick, for medical appointments or family reasons- "every day counts". We also ask that if you arrive early please refain from coming into the classroom as this can disrupt student learning and teaching.

I hope you all have a lovely rest of the week.

Laura

From the Teacher

Good afternoon everybody!

We hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day  and enjoyed your bath salts/shower scrub and your letters they filled out. The kids loved making them!  Thank you to those who also attended the P&C Mother's Day event.

We have been focussing a lot on cleaning up after ourselves so we can have a clear mind to allow us to concentrate on our learning and take pride in our spaces.

We are so excited for our upcoming events mentioned by Miss Glassey previoulsy in the newsletter.

Reminders:

  • Thursday afternoon's 3-4pm we have sport with Amber!
  • As it's coming into cooler weather and that means a bit more sicknesses are going around. Please remember to keep your child at home if they have sickness symptoms so we can minimise spread of infection.

Kind regards,
Harriet Birchley
